NOTICE
The IRS will provide TLD a minimum of 48 hours
advance notice that an assessment needs to be administered. TLD
will be contacted for the assessment service by a senior management
official within one of the operating units. TLD will then communicate
the relevant information to The Language Specialist.
IRS LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT PROCEDURES

Using a 4-part assessment, TLD’s Language Specialist will
perform an assessment of a given applicant’s fluency in a
given language. The assessment will be administered by telephone
and by facsimile.
Each assessment will not exceed one (1) hour. The assessment consists
of four (4) parts:
- The ability to converse in a given language. (The TLD Language
Specialist will converse with the applicant and exchange written
materials for purposes of assessing his/her oral and written fluency.)
- The ability to write in a given language. (The TLD Language
Specialist will fax the applicant a letter to be translated into
English.)
- The ability to translate from the foreign language into English.
(The TLD Language Specialist will provide the applicant a letter
in the respective foreign language to be translated into English.)
- The ability to translate from English into the foreign language.
(The TLD Language Specialist will provide the applicant a letter
in English to be translated into the respective foreign language.)
When the applicant has finished the two written exercises, the exercises
are faxed back to the TLD Language Specialist to be evaluated.
The Language Specialist will assess the applicant using a Language
Skills Assessment Form (LSAF). Each candidate will be rated
on a pass/fail basis for each of the 4 parts of the assessment.
Each candidate will receive an overall pass/fail rating as well.
The Language Specialist will provide the LSAF, including recommendations
and comments regarding employment to the IRS Project Manager within
24 hour of the assessment via facsimile and/or e-mail.

Cancellation Policy

charge
• Between 48-24 hour notification: 50% charge
• Less than 24 hour notification: 75% charge
